Why we don't use chemicals in our soap

Walk into any supermarket and you will find shelves of brightly packaged "soaps". Almost none of them are soap.

They are synthetic detergents — made with surfactants, preservatives, artificial fragrance, and foaming agents. The label might say "moisturising" or "gentle", but the ingredients list tells a different story.

What real soap is

Soap is the result of a chemical reaction between oils and an alkali — usually sodium hydroxide (lye). When you combine them correctly and let the mixture cure, you get soap and glycerin. The glycerin is a natural humectant that stays in the bar and moisturises your skin while you wash.

In commercial manufacturing, the glycerin is usually removed and sold separately (it is valuable). What remains is a stripped-down detergent bar that cleans aggressively and leaves your skin feeling tight.

What we use instead

We start with a glycerin or goat milk base — one that keeps its glycerin intact. Then we add real ingredients from our farm and from trusted suppliers.

• Neem from the tree in our garden, dried and powdered
• Tulsi from the herb beds we tend every morning
• Coconut oil for its natural antibacterial properties
• Goat milk for lactic acid that gently exfoliates

Nothing comes from a lab. Nothing has a name you cannot pronounce.

Why it matters for your skin

Your skin has a natural barrier — the acid mantle — that protects it from bacteria, pollution, and moisture loss. Harsh detergent soaps disrupt this barrier every time you wash.

Over time, this leads to dryness, sensitivity, and in some cases, worsening of conditions like eczema or acne. Your skin is working overtime to repair something that did not need to break in the first place.

Natural soap, made with glycerin and real oils, cleans without stripping. You step out of the shower feeling clean but not tight, moisturised but not greasy.

Made to order means made fresh

One more reason we do things this way: our soaps are made after you order them. There are no preservatives because there is no shelf life to worry about. What you receive was made for you, a few days before it arrives.

That is the difference. And once you feel it, you will not go back.
